2012 Manchester United Premier Cup Draw Announced

2012 Manchester United Premier Cup

The Manchester United Premier Cup gives talented under fifteen year olds the chance to show off their skills and come up against other young footballers from around the globe. They get to play on an international stage and meet and compete with the best of their class.

The Pacific Final will be held in April and will house a tournament with each of the Australian state winners and two teams from New Zealand to determine the Pacific Champions. The team crowned as Pacific Champions will then go on to Manchester to represent Australia & New Zealand in the World Finals.

Nike will cover flights, accommodation and meals for the winning team and its officials for the Pacific Final.

Brisbane City FC Celebrates 60th Anniversary

2012 marks Brisbane City Football Clubs’ 60thanniversary in Queensland football. Azzurri as they were known then was founded in 1952 by a group of Italian migrants yearning for the round ball game which they followed passionately in their country of birth.

The club was very successful in the 60's and 70's filling its trophy cabinet many times over. The late 70's saw the club enter into the National Soccer League winning the Phillips Cup in 1977 and 1978 and were grand finalists in 1979.

Today Brisbane City’s home ground of Spencer Park boasts one of the states best football facilities currently being enjoyed by juniors and seniors alike, from many different backgrounds.

The club will be running a series of events throughout the year to celebrate its 60th anniversary commencing with a Premier League round 1 match against traditional rivals Queensland Lions, which is sure to bring back many fond memories of the old Azzurri vs Hollandia days. This match will kick off at 8.30pm on Friday 17th February, 2012.

Book a table and enjoy freshly made wood fired pizza or BBQ ribs while watching the game. Corporate boxes will also be available.

Promote your Club with the Roar

Following from their dramatic win over Sydney FC, the Brisbane Roar season is about to reach fever pitch and they want everyone in the Football Brisbane community to be part of it. To do this, they would like your club to come and show it's colours at their next home game on the 28th of January against the Newcastle Jets.

The Brisbane Roar is offering every Brisbane club space on the North or South plaza to sign up new players and promote their club to 15,000 or more people. This will give your club access to new people who are interested in the game but may not be associated with a local club – or know how close a club is to them. This is an opportunity to leverage the current popularity of the Roar to help grow your club. Several players will be available on the night help generate interest on the plaza areas.

So come along, set up a table, dress it with your colours and have a great night at the game.

2012 Brisbane Roar Silver Boot Tournament

The annual Silver Boot pre-season tournament is once again being run by Queensland Lions. The Brisbane Roar are the major sponsor of this premier preseason tournament, which features teams from the Q-League, Brisbane Premier League, and Premier Division 1.

All games are played at Luxury Paints Stadium (133 Pine Road, Richlands) commencing Tuesday 17 January, and continue on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Fridays/Sundays for three weeks; semi-finals are on Wednesday 8 February, and the Grand Final on Sunday 12 February.

Brisbane adds another worthy official to the ranks of FIFA

Brisbane Premier League Referee & Hyundai A-League Assistant Referee, Nathan MacDonald, has recently been awarded his FIFA Assistant Referee's badge for 2012.

It's an achievement befitting a hard working official and compliments a growing number of Brisbane based referees and assistants whom bear the FIFA badge with pride on appointments both nationally and internationally.

Nathan is into his third season as A-League assistant whilst also serving as a referee on the QSL and Brisbane Premier League for a number of seasons.

His role as FIFA Assistant Referee will initially see him venture to many parts of the Asian Football Confederation region with a longer term goal being to officiate in any number of the world's premier international tournaments and ultimately the FIFA World Cup – one day.

2012 Brisbane Junior Leagues

Football Brisbane wish to announce the composition of the 2012 Brisbane Junior Leagues are as follows:

Under 13 – Albany Creek, Centenary Stormers, Ipswich Knights, Loganholme, Moggill, North Pine,

North Star, Redlands Utd, The Gap, and Wolves FC

Under 14 – Annerley, Centenary Stormers, Loganholme, Mitchelton, North Pine, North Star, Pine Hills, Queensland Lions, Wolves FC

Final position will be determined by a play off between Peninsula Power and Redlands Utd

Under 15 – Kenmore, Loganholme, Mitchelton, Mount Gravatt, North Pine, North Star, Peninsula Power, Pine Hills, Souths Utd

Final position will be determined by a play off between Brisbane City and Capalaba

Under 17 – Holland Park Hawks, Ipswich Knights, John Paul College, Loganholme, Mount Gravatt, North Pine, Peninsula Power, Redlands Utd, Souths Utd, Wolves FC

Under 17 Division 1 – Albany Creek, Brighton District, Brisbane Force, Grange Thistle, Loganholme, Mount Gravatt, North Star, Peninsula Power, Souths Utd, Wolves FC

The rules for the play off matches will be as follows:

These rules must be read in conjunction with the Junior Rules of Competition. In the event of an omission in these Play-off Rules, Football Brisbane will make a decision using both the Play-off and Junior Rules of Competition or any other Rules, Policies or Guidelines used in the normal practice of competition management in the Brisbane Zone.
Footballs and all other match day requirements are provided by the home venue
Match Officials’ fees will be shared equally by the two competing teams for all matches
There will be two matches which will be held in a home and away format.

Match points will be awarded as follows

WIN Three (3) Points

DRAW One (1) Point

LOSS Nil (0) Points

If, at the end of the two play off matches, the teams are equal on points, goal difference shall be taken into account in determining which team is awarded the final BJL position.

Goal difference shall be calculated by subtracting the total number of goals AGAINST from the total number of goals FOR in the play off matches.

· the team with the higher or highest resultant plus figure from such subtraction shall be deemed to have the superior goal difference and shall be the higher or highest placed team;

· the team with the lower or lowest resultant minus figure from such subtraction shall be deemed to have the superior goal difference and shall be the higher or highest placed team;

· in the case of goal difference being equal, the team having scored the most goals FOR shall be the higher or highest placed team.

If teams are still equal after taking into account all of the above considerations, the following will apply:

· The clubs concerned shall play extra time in the second play off match: a five (5) minute break will be followed by 2 x 10 minute periods to be played in full. Should the scores still be equal after extra time a penalty shoot-out, in accordance with FIFA regulations, will be taken to determine the winner.

The play off matches will take place on the weekends of 3^rd March and 10^th March 2012.
NOTE: Football Brisbane will arrange the dates, times and locations of all play off matches. These scheduled matches will be advised to participating teams prior to the commencement of preseason.

A player is eligible to play in his/her team, provided he/she has been registered in line with Football Federation of Australia National Registration Regulations and Football Brisbane Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, and is not under suspension by Football Brisbane or any other Federation.

A player is eligible to take part in a Football Brisbane competition match provided his/her name has been listed on the Match Sheet prior to the commencement of the match.

In all BJL and Division 1 competitions players must attain the appropriate age for the competition they wish to play in during the Year of Competition.

Players will not be permitted to play up into these competitions unless they qualify for and have been granted “Special Circumstances” status.

Junior Premier League (JPL) players will not be permitted to take part in the play off matches.

Any team found to be in breach of the aforementioned eligibility rules will be automatically disqualified from the play off matches and will no longer be in contention for the final BJL position.

2013 Premier Competition Criteria

Premier League Applications 2013

In order to assist clubs with their application process we have outlined the weighting being allocated to each criterion and have set out some financial guidelines to enable clubs can assess their capacity to fund their involvement in the new league.

These documents are now available to be down loaded from our web site by clubs. I would suggest that clubs utilise them as a check list to self assess their progress.

Finally we have decided to extend the closing date for applications until the 28th February 2012. This follows submissions from a number of clubs asking for more time to prepare their applications.

Hopefully this will answer some questions being asked in the community and allay some fears. Please feel free to communicate with myself or other committee members if you need further clarification of any matter. In closing I wish you all good luck with your applications.

Applications Invited for 2013 Premier Competition

Football Brisbane have announced a new 3 League Competition Structure which will commence in the 2013 season.

Details of the new structure and application document for all clubs interested in applying for positions in the new Football Brisbane Premier competition is now available (click here).

Applications for the new Football Brisbane Premier competition close 28 February 2012 (note date change) with New Divisions announced 1st October 2012. The new competition structure will commence in 2013.
