WHAT IS IT?
SAS is a world-first real-time computerised Sport Administration System specifically designed for sporting players, clubs and administrators of all levels.
The game data is captured on-field using a palm pilot; after the days play the data is then sent via a telephone line and synchronised with the database program where it is stored and collated. The results and game data are then sent to the associations website. The database and website collate and distribute information relevant to all levels of administrators from team officials to board of directors.
It is high-tech yet simple to use; cost saving; efficient and beneficial to every level of a sports organisation.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
SAS uses three major components: data collection; storage and collation; and distribution.
1.The data is collected with a handheld data processing unit (e.g. a Palm Pilot), enabling officials to input player lists, game statistics, injury information, umpire reports and the like at the time of the game. After collection, the data is sent via email to a central collection facility. In order for this collection process to work, all players and officials are issued with a photo ID card that identifies the cardholder within SAS.
2.The data is stored on a database that is controlled by the sporting associations administrative staff. This database retains all information necessary for the club administration and can be used to access player history or to produce reports.
3.The data is distributed via the Internet, so that players and officials can log into the secure website to find out the latest scores, statistics or check the draw. Public access to the website allows people to see basic information about a particular
sporting club.
HOW WILL IT HELP MY ORGANISATION?
SAS benefits your sports organisation at every level. Administrators, players, officials, team managers and the general public will all benefit with SAS. Heres a guide to the major benefits:
1.SAVES TIME AND MONEY
Using SAS results in a significant reduction in the amount of paperwork; a reduction in volunteer staff (who would normally record results or do paperwork); a reduction in communication costs (phone, fax and photocopier) because all information is available on the internet; and a reduction in administration time over all.
2.REDUCES PAPERWORK
Using SAS simply means significantly less paper work. All information is stored on a database, which means paper storage is no longer required. Any information relating to your organisation - results, news, statistics, etc. - can be posted on the website.
3.IMPROVED INFORMATION ACCESS
SAS means improved access to club information across the board, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From a member of the general public accessing some basic club information to an official seeking details on a player, the website will always contain the information required.
4.MORE EFFICIENT CLUB ADMINISTRATION AND COMMUNICATION
All the above benefits result in a sporting club that operates and communicates more efficiently than ever before.
WHO CREATED IT?
John McCrystal and Richard OLeary are the principals of SAS. John and Richard are the directors of a company called OLeary McCrystal Enterprises (OME), which is based on the Gold Coast. SAS is a product of OME.
OME has been operating for seven years specialising in people management systems. SAS has been in development for four years and has been in the market place for two of those years. OME has three programmers on staff specialising in palm pilot software, database programming and website design. John, Richard and another administration staff member round off the team. When we implement and roll out our systems we employ casual staff as required.
We appreciate the big decision you have to make when choosing an IT company to implement your administration system. So that is why we approach the implementation of SAS in any association on a partnership basis.
When choosing a partner you must be able to communicate, trust, and respect each other. We can bedazzle you with many words that say what we can and cant do but we would rather prove it through action. We would be prepared to implement certain aspects of our system on a trial basis at no expense to your association. This would give both parties a chance to fully understand each others needs and capabilities in a real life situation.

The cost benefits of having SAS is positive and our member clubs would not consider returning to a paper-based system - Ian Barfoot, Gold Coast Juniors President.
The major benefits for our club is the reduction of the paper trail and the quick processing and viewing of all results. - Di Moir, Southport Sharks Juniors President.
