After almost three years at its Heritage Park base of Logan Football Complex, Football Brisbane has departed the venue to move to accommodation closer to the Brisbane CBD. This will provide better access to all clubs across its geographical spread.
Football Brisbane General Manager, Rafe Griffin stated, “We’ve listened to the feedback of our clubs who think it’s a terrific venue but they have expressed a preference for the organisation’s headquarters to be more centrally located to the Brisbane CBD.”
“We had tried to secure tenants for the venue in order for it to be better utilised and derive income that would offset the costs involved in maintaining three full-sized football fields but after examining all possibilities, we feel as though we have exhausted these.”
“The circumstances of COVID-19 has also caused a re-think of the organisation’s strategic priorities and in 2021, we’re looking at placing a greater focus on areas where clubs have told us that they’d like to see improvements such as retention and recruitment of referees.”
“I’d like to thank Logan City Council for all their assistance while we were at the venue and for being supportive and understanding of our decision to leave. We’ll continue to maintain a close relationship with them as a number of our clubs are located in their Council area and we will work with them for the mutual benefit of those clubs and Council.”
Football Brisbane is operating in new premises as of Thursday 7 January 2021, moving to the Brisbane Business Centre at 17 Gould Road, Herston in a pure office space environment.
