Football Brisbane’s General Manager Rafe Griffin, along with Commercial Manager Gemma Smallfield, recently attended Football Victoria’s Club Development Conference to gain some insight into what the organisation can do to better assist our clubs at the beginning of each season.
Football Victoria’s Club Development Conference is an integral weekend for club administrators to hear information on key topics and attend training sessions to assist and help clubs develop throughout the season.
Formally welcomed as VIPs to the conference, Rafe and Gemma attended sessions that covered safe guarding children, volunteer attraction and retention, developing female coaches, successful club sponsorships and improving grants. In addition to the keynote speaker sessions, Rafe also joined in with FV’s update on competitions and registrations.
In an effort to help Football Brisbane clubs with these aspects of club administration, Football Brisbane will look to implement a similar style conference in the future utilising the experiences gained from the visit to Victoria.
Mr Griffin said, “I’ve been noticing what Victoria has been doing for some time in relation to these conferences and given our strategic priorities and wanting to provide better support and value for our clubs, it seemed timely to go down and observe for myself how they operate and how we might be able to apply any learnings back in Brisbane.”
He added, “I thought the conference was very well run and a credit to the FV staff and I thank them for their cooperation in allowing us to participate. This is definitely something we can run in Brisbane in the lead-up to the 2021 season and I look forward to working with my team and clubs in moulding a program for next year that will provide greater assistance and strengthen the management of our clubs.”
Commercial Manager, Gemma Smallfield also noted, “hosting an event of this calibre in 2021 for Football Brisbane clubs will be a great opportunity for our community partners to engage and further promote networking within our community to get the best outcome for the game.”
