Football Queensland held it’s annual State Referee’s Conference on Sunday at the University of Queensland’s Schonell Theatre, St Lucia.
Referees from across the state’s zones were in attendance with discussion on the latest law changes within the game as well as presentations from guest speakers.
Football Brisbane General Manager Rafe Griffin was in attendance to be better informed on the law changes that are in effect for this season and to liaise with many of Football Brisbane’s referees who were present.
Mr Griffin commented on the seminar by saying, “It was fantastic to see so many referees, including many first year officials, appreciating Football Queensland’s referee initiatives for 2020″.
He added, ‘The Laws of the Game presentation delivered by Matthew Cheeseman from FFA was both engaging and informative, whilst former referee and current AFC/FFA Referee Instructor Paul Eldridge’s interactive quiz activities were also excellent”.
Football Brisbane Referee Development Officer Steve Jones said of the conference, “The future for referees and the pathways being developed, will greatly assist with increasing referee numbers and retention within our zone”.
Mr Griffin concluded, “We look forward to an exciting and promising season for all referees, new, old and everyone in between”.
